Radio Frequency & Facial Contouring

Radio frequency (RF) treatments are a new and exciting development, offering a real alternative to surgery for skin tightening and aiding the removal of fat and cellulite.

Typically this treatment is used for:

Skin tightening, particularly around the face and jawline (non-surgical facelift)

Promoting fat and cellulite removal around the abdomen, thighs and buttocks

Regaining the elasticity and vitality of the skin

At Welwyn Aesthetic Clinic we use the Accent RF system. This system is unique in providing two types of RF energy: the BiPolar handpiece delivers its therapeutic effect between 2 - 6 mm skin depth (ideal for facial treatments,) whilst the UniPolar handpiece delivers energy penetrating to the deeper levels required for body treatments. Unlike some systems available, treatment with Accent is not painful and does not require the use of topical anaesthetics. The RF energy is delivered with constant contact cooling to aid comfort and protect the epidermis. Most clients enjoy the pleasant warming sensation of the treatment, and are able to immediately resume their normal activities.

Controlled doses of RF energy are delivered into the skin, penetrating up to 30mm depth, to provide controlled heating of the tissue. This therapeutic heating improves local circulation, assists the breakdown of fibrous tissue and promotes the re-absorption and drainage of retained fluids. Penetration of the energy to deeper levels can facilitate the breakdown of adipose tissue, helping to mobilise and eliminate fat and cellulite deposits.

The treatment is administered using a small handpiece which is moved across the surface of the skin. During treatment the temperature of the skin is monitored using a laser thermometer to ensure that the temperature is raised to and maintained at the therapeutic level, whilst avoiding over-heating. Treatment for a full face will take approximately 30-45 minutes.

A course of treatment sessions is required to achieve optimal results – 4 sessions for the face and 8 for the body. The changes are progressive throughout and for a short time following completion of the treatment course, producing a subtle, gradual transformation rather than sudden over-night change.

Treatment costs for the full course are £1,100 for facial and £1,550 for body areas. Whilst this is not insignificant, it is considerably cheaper, far more comfortable and much less disruptive than undertaking surgery!
